Guide to: Winter Sports Travel Insurance

27th June 2023 by John

While 1 in 5 brits skip travel insurance when headed abroad, you'd be crazy not to grab insurance before heading to the slops. Obviously, the risk of injury is far greater when hurtling down the side of a mountain than sipping a beer by the side of a pool. If you’ve booked your winter adventure, but not your travel insurance, do it now! Much of what we've covered in our guide to cheap travel insurance stands here, but I thought I'd pull out the main points that relate to winter sports. And...

15th February 2019 by John

Sadly, Thomas Cook Airlines is no longer with us. We have decided to keep this post public for the time being, but will remove it at some point in the future. On one single August day alone (12 August) 2.6 million people checked in to an Airbnb property. Wowzers. The growth of Airbnb has been phenomenal. Seven years ago, 47,000 people checked in to Airbnb properties during the summer. Just three years ago that number had increased to 17 million. That’s a hockey stick curve of exponential...

Monarch airlines collapses into administration

2nd October 2017 by John

Shock news - Monarch Airlines has collapsed into administration today. Monarch was the very first airline I flew on as young boy and the experience is still vivid in my mind. Today is a sad day. So what happened? Yesterday, Monarch Airlines failed to gain a renewal of its Atol licence. Without being able to sell Atol protected holidays the board decided to place the company into administration with KPMG. The airline was already on an emergency extension of it's licence and so this collapse...

Review: Booking low cost Norwegian flights to New York

17th August 2023 by John

Norwegian Air seems to be everywhere at the moment. Whether it’s winning awards, or grabbing the headlines for their bargain basement long haul fares, they’re being talked about for all the right reasons. I thought it was about time I booked myself a flight to see what all the fuss is about. The airline has been opening up new long haul routes over the last 12 months, which now include San Francisco, LA, Boston, and most recently Singapore. But I’m interested in a hop across the pond...
