How cold is it in Germany during January?
January is typically the coldest month in Germany. And when we say cold, we mean it. The temperature tops out at around 3℃ during the day, falling away to -2℃ at night. The UV index will be low at this time of year, so not something to worry about. However, if you're going to be outside for long periods it's always a good idea to apply a small amount of sunscreen to exposed skin.
Does it snow in Germany during January?
Yes, snow is pretty likely during January. There's also a good chance that there will be ice and snow on the ground, so pack appropriate footwear and clothing.
Does it rain in Germany during January?
On average, there will be 8 rainy days during the month, amounting to 66.6mm in total. That's broadly comparable with the amount of rain we see in England during the summer months, and would be considered dry. Of course, some of that rain will actually fall as sleet, snow, and possibly freezing rain. There's a small chance that you'll catch a thunderstorm during your trip.
Is it windy in Germany during January?
You're unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a light breeze that picks up slightly at times in January. With cold air temperatures at this time of year, any breeze will feel very cold.
