Dubrovnik offers a stunning blend of history, culture and natural beauty; July is a great time to explore the city and its surroundings, with warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine. We've looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Dubrovnik, covering the last 12 years up to 2024, plus we've asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Dubrovnik weather in July.

What's the weather like in Dubrovnik in July?

A Rose Tinted World Dubrovnik is incredibly hot and dry in July. When we visited, it was possibly the hottest holiday I have ever been on. Because Dubrovnik is a stone and tile city right on the coast, this seems to distill the heat even further. So it is really important to stay hydrated and wear a covering on your head, especially if you are planning on walking the city walls or doing a lot of sightseeing. Answered by A Rose Tinted World

What should I pack for a holiday in Dubrovnik in July?

A Rose Tinted World Dubrovnik can be a city break destination, so I would pack light summer clothes and a hat that is perfect for sightseeing. Definitely pack comfy shoes, as there are a fair few steps to walk around the city walls. And pack your camera, as the views across the bay over the red rooftops are spectacular, you will need to take photographs! Answered by A Rose Tinted World

What's great about Dubrovnik in July?

A Rose Tinted World The city of Dubrovnik is just a stunning and historic place, whatever time of year. But there are lots of shops open to visit, plenty of lovely places to eat and drink, and great bars in the evening. As well as this, it has now been used as a filming location for Game Of Thrones, so there are plenty of places to visit associated with the show. Even though it is hot in July, the sunny weather is perfect for seeing the golden stone walls and red rooftops of the city against the bright blue southern Adriatic sea. Yes, it may be slightly busier and full of tourists in July, but it is worth it. Answered by A Rose Tinted World

How warm is it in Dubrovnik during July?

The temperature reaches around 28℃ during the daytime in July, falling away to 22℃ at night. The UV index will be high at this time of year, so protection against skin and eye damage is needed. Try to limit exposure between 10am and 4pm. Apply broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every few hours, even if it's cloudy, or more frequently after sweating or swimming, and wear UV-blocking sunglasses too, and bear in mind that bright surfaces, such as sand and water increase UV exposure.

Does it rain in Dubrovnik during July?

On average, there will be 3 rainy days during the month, amounting to 43.7mm in total. That's broadly comparable with the amount of rain we see in England during the summer months, and would be considered dry. There's a small chance that you'll catch a thunderstorm during your trip.

Is it windy in Dubrovnik during July?

You're unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a light breeze that picks up slightly at times in July. With moderate humidity, any breeze will have a welcome cooling effect.

How warm is the sea in Dubrovnik during July?

The water around Dubrovnik reaches a very pleasant 25℃ during July. This is very warm, and will feel bath-like. People who normally feel the cold will find this temperature perfectly acceptable. The hot air temperature will mean that you will feel comfortably warm when coming out of the water.
