Ibiza weather
Our guide to the weather and climate in Ibiza
Know to many Brits as the ultimate party island, Ibiza is a jewel among Spain's popular Balearic Islands.
Whether it’s San Antonio, Talamanca, or Es Caná (to name just a few) that you take your holiday in, Ibiza is a charming and mesmerising part of the world whichever month you travel. If you’re a partygoer you’ll love the nightlife, or perhaps you’re an avid beach fan. Either way, the island is the perfect destination with some beautiful weather in the summer and milder temperatures in the winter.
Weather during January
Ibiza in January is mild compared to the UK and you'll enjoy 7 hours of sunshine at highs of 15°c. With averages of 12° and lows of 9° it won’t quite be bikini weather but thankfully there’s more than just sunbathing to enjoy a trip here.
When thinking of taking your holiday in January, it’s worth noting that 10 days of rain are forecast over the month so remember to pack something waterproof.
Walking along the beach is not out of the question, though we wouldn’t suggest spending the whole day there as you may get a little chilly. For some beautiful views as you stroll, head to Es Cavallet where you will be greeted by white sands, dunes, and hills. Off season is ideal to come here because during peak season it is home to partygoers and nudists and in January it will be much quieter if that is what you prefer.
If you enjoy nature, are an avid gardener, or just want something different to experience, why not try an Almond Blossom Tour – capture the beauty of winter as you discover the island’s almond trees that are flourishing with life.

Weather during February
Compared with January, you'll see the hours of sun per day rise by 1 and the number of rainy days over the month decrease by 2. Apart from that, the climate is unchanged in February.
You may get cloudy days if you visit this month so heading to a spa is a good idea. With the relaxed atmosphere of the island, you will feel calm and carefree in no time.
February is a great time to hire a bike and see some of the most stunning surroundings. It can be difficult to do this is in peak season because it is simply too hot, so take advantage of the milder weather and calm breezes by cycling to some of Ibiza’s beauty spots. You’ll also be able to see so much more as there won’t be crowds of tourists everywhere.
The average temperature will be 12°c, reaching highs of 16° which is actually quite impressive. The sea will be too cold to swim in, therefore it is recommended you book accommodation that offers a pool if you enjoy keeping active in the water.
A stroll along any of the beautiful sandy beaches is possible, just bear in mind it may be a tad cool. Come prepared though and February could be just the thing you need for a romantic getaway.

Weather during March
Spring is in the air (almost) and the temperatures begin to improve a little as they reach double figures. Lows of 10°c are possible, but with averages of 13° and highs of 17°, it is time to spend a lot more of your time outdoors.
Searching for a bit of excitement (after all you have come to Ibiza!), we’d suggest go-karting, visiting the fun fair, or even horse riding.
If you’d like to spend some time at the beach, you’ll be able to do this without the crowds – it can look so different during the low season, and you really get to appreciate the surroundings. Go to Talamanca Beach if you want to see some spectacular views and you will find more of the nearby bars and restaurants are open this month too.
The sea will still be too cool for swimming so you won’t see many people in the water other than to take a boat trip, which is another great way to see the island views.
With 9 hours of sun, you can fit a lot in to your day. You may see a rain shower here and there, but nothing to thwart your plans.

Weather during April
Spring takes hold in April, and as temperatures climb, Easter is an ideal time to take your first holiday of the year.
The temperature reaches highs of 19°c, and averages of 16°. You’ll notice calm breezes, and there will be the possibility of rain over 7 days of the entire month. You will want to pack a thin jumper or light jacket in case of cool periods, but for most of the time, you should feel comfortable in a t-shirt.
For a little beach hopping excursion, we’d recommend visiting Cala Salada, a beach that doesn’t get many tourists and would have to be accessed by car. You’ll enjoy soft sand, turquoise waters, and if you venture up the cliffs, some stunning views await.
Walking far enough along the beach, you will arrive at Cala Saladeta, a place of tranquillity where you can relax on the sand as you look out at the crystal-clear waters (it will still be too cold for swimming at 16°), and you could even stay long enough to witness the spectacular sunset. Take your own picnic though as there aren’t any facilities here.
Moving away from the beach, your day could be spent walking or hiking – one impressive sight is the Puig de Missa Church located in Santa Eulalia. As well as the church, you’ll also marvel at the temple, cemetery, houses, and museums that surround it.
You can comfortably spend the day exploring because the sun will not be too hot, and any breeze will cool you down if needed.

Weather during May
What a fantastic month to visit Ibiza. The climate is warm and sunny, most facilities and venues are now open, and there will be a few more tourists descending on the island.
We’re still not quite into the peak season yet though, so you’ll be able to enjoy the 22°c highs and 12-hour long sunny days without it being too crowded.
The sea will be tempting at 18° and for those that want to brave the waters could do so at Caló des Mort Beach – there is only a small area of sand, and this is more of a place to enjoy the sea. If it’s not too cold for you then there are opportunities for snorkelling, where you will see a variety of marine life thanks to its crystal-clear waters.
With average temperatures sitting at around 18°, this is a brilliant time to go sightseeing and it doesn’t get much better than Dalt Vila – steeped in history, breathtaking views, museums, and art galleries, as well as gift shops and restaurants – there are a plethora of things to see and do to easily spend the day here. You could even enjoy the atmosphere of the Medieval Festival that takes place here in May which will make for a great day out.
The prices for accommodation and flights will start to creep up from May onwards, but many of the hotels and apartments will be open, and more airlines will have direct flights to the island.

Weather during June
The Ibiza climate shifts gear in June. The forecast rainfall drops to only 4 days and the sea temperature rises to 21°c. Combine this with averages of 22° and highs of 26°, we’d say a beach day is well and truly on the cards.
Las Salinas Beach is one of the most popular in Ibiza. Situated in the south, you’ll be greeted by soft sand, clear waters, and brilliant views. Let’s not forget the amenities, facilities, and transport links that are all close by, thus giving you the opportunity to spend the whole day here – with 13 hours of sunshine and calm breezes we really wouldn’t blame you!
Ibiza’s nightlife is one of the reasons it can get so busy during peak season. The club scene is extremely well known and with all venues open, now is the time to visit if this is your thing. It’s not just nightclubs though, and you’ll be spoilt for choice with beach and boat parties, bars, and concerts all late into the night.
If you’ve booked accommodation with a pool, then you can relax during the day or head to the beach to doze on the sand after a night of partying. For the more sedate traveller, you might want to take in some of the exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art before enjoying some fine dining.

Weather during July
The climate in July is one of the best all year so it’s easy to see why it gets so busy. The temperatures mean your luggage will consist of shorts, t-shirts, dresses, and swimwear – even at lows of 21°c, you won’t need to bring a jumper this month. Highs of 29° will guarantee you’ll need your suncream, hat, and water to keep you hydrated.
If you want to head to the beach, we’d suggest visiting Cala d’Hort – a popular spot in San José that does get busy, so go there as early as you can. A mixture of sand and pebbles, clear waters, and superb views of Es Vedrà island which rises out of the sea for onlookers to marvel at while relaxing on the beach, along with sun loungers and umbrellas for hire, water sport facilities, and nearby restaurants.
If it does get too hot (most likely from mid-morning to mid-afternoon), you could cool off in one of the waterparks. Again, these will be busy so be prepared for the crowds. There’s also the option to go to Cap Blanc Aquarium (located near to San Antonio and Cala Gracio) to seek some shade – this will be easy here thanks to the smuggler’s cave that the aquarium is built in. Book your tickets in advance and enjoy a little respite from the sun before you continue your day.

Weather during August
In August the Ibiza climate will hit its peak, and this is the month for the sun-worshippers to descend, making the most of the 13-hour rays and working on their tan.
Not everyone enjoys this much heat, but that doesn’t mean the island will be any quieter. There will be a lot of families taking their holidays now and the beaches will be filled with children paddling in the shallow waters and bigger kids partaking in water sports – the sea at 26°c is perfect for all activities.
Es Figueral Beach in Santa Eulalia has calm shallow waters and soft sand, along with views of the surrounding cliffs. High temperatures of 30° will mean you’ll no doubt want to hire an umbrella, so visit early if you don’t have your own to bring with you. Bars and restaurants nearby allow you to refuel and rehydrate during the day too.
Opting for something different, you could hop on the Santa Eulalia tourist train which takes you on a trip to the hippy market through the countryside. Relax as you pass some lovely sights and scenery.
There won’t be much chance of rain as it is only forecast over 4 days and there will be calm breezes at most, so if you’re looking for an uninterrupted sun-filled holiday, August is most definitely the month for you.

Weather during September
With the long hours of sunshine remaining throughout the month and the temperatures being a little more comfortable, it is no wonder that people still flock to Ibiza in September.
It will quieten a little as families return home, and most students have left too now. There will still be a buzz of tourists around though as accommodation prices come down and the weather is still great.
The number of days rain over the month increases to 8, though with average temperatures at 24°c and highs of 28° this shouldn’t bother you too much.
A beach day will be nice and hopefully not too busy. Cala Tarida on the west coast gives you fine white sand and turquoise waters, as well as the usual facilities, water sports, pleasant scenery, and nearby accommodation and eateries. Preferring it very quiet, we’d suggest heading north of the beach to find small coves that offer peace and tranquillity.
Now would be a perfect time to visit San Antonio (if you don’t have the pleasure of staying there already). All venues and facilities are still open and now the queues have decreased it will be a fine time to get out onto the water – the sea is 25° and ideal for jet skiing, stand up paddling, banana boating, and snorkelling.
On dry land you can stroll along the promenade, enjoy local cuisine at the many restaurants, visit the Church of San Antonio, and do not miss the chance to witness the sun setting at least once on your trip.

Weather during October
The weather may have taken a turn for the worse in the UK, making now the ideal time to book a last-minute getaway and catch the last of the warmer climate in Ibiza.
The low temperatures are at 17°c making for more comfortable nights, along with averages of 20° and highs of 24°, this month is suitable for those that like the sun without too much heat.
The pleasant climate means you can enjoy a variety of activities outside – you’ll still need your suncream, but it won’t be sweltering.
If you’re seeking a bit of exhilaration, you’ll be pleased to know most facilities remain open (at the end of October businesses will usually close for the preparation of winter). Have a go at flyboarding, hire a quad bike to explore the island, or why not try the climbing park located near Es Canà. Speaking of Es Canà, it's an ideal location if you want a more laid-back holiday. You can visit the beach which is easily accessible from most of the nearby accommodation and has clean golden sand. There are a choice of bars and restaurants, as well as the famous hippy market to peruse at your leisure.
Ten days of rain are forecast so it is possible that you may see a light shower and you could feel cool as the wind picks up to a moderate breeze – pack a jumper along with your t-shirts and you’ll still enjoy your October break.

Weather during November
November sees some changes as Ibiza enters the winter season. There could be lows of 13°c, 8 hours of sun per day, and 10 days’ worth of rain over the month. On the plus side though, average temperatures of 16° and highs of 19° make it a significant improvement on the UK.
The sea will be 19° at this time of year so the beach and a quick dip are still possible. Cala Jondal is another lovely beach situated 15 minutes from Ibiza Town and only reachable by car (this shouldn’t be an issue though and you could incorporate a spot of beach hopping to fill one of your days).
Stunning views of the jagged cliffs and pine trees can be seen from the pebbly beach. It also boasts crystal clear waters that are ideal for snorkelling.
Those that enjoy hiking might prefer to visit Punto d’es Moscarter – the trek may be a bit tricky but is worth it to get the views from the hills and to see the impressive stature of the lighthouse.
The weather shouldn’t be too unpredictable but just be open to changing your plans just in case you get a shower or chilly day.

Weather during December
December is all about coming to the island to relax and explore the natural beauty it holds, which you might struggle to do at busier times. Long gone are the crowds of partygoers and there won’t be too many people on the beaches with temperatures sitting between 13 and 16°c. You’ll get 7 hours of sunshine though, and this will still allow you to enjoy Ibiza to the full.
Let’s start with Christmas – it is a fabulous time to visit. Towns are adorned with lights and decorations, and there is a festive buzz about the whole island. Activities, markets, and restaurants are aplenty, and though it’s not quite peak season, you’ll find tourists enjoy Ibiza in winter a lot more compared to the UK.
Stroll along the beach in the daytime as you enjoy the sunshine while taking in the lovely views. The sea will probably be too cold for most at 17° and there may be a moderate breeze present, so you’ll need warmer clothes in December.
Those who want to discover the historical monuments of the island can do so by visiting the Castle of Ibiza, Torre de Ses Portes, or Ibiza Cathedral.

Ibiza is well known for its party nights and buzzing atmosphere, but you’ll also find it has some spectacular beaches, fabulous views, and quiet times.
It really does depend on the month you travel – we have no doubt though that whenever you decide to visit Ibiza, the island will give you everything you could want and more for a truly enjoyable trip.
