Unmissable Berlin

Over twenty years since the fall of the Berlin wall and the city has been turned into an ever-evolving cultural, urban and tourist hotspot. Whether spending as little as two days or bagging a last-minute city break deal, you will be drawn in by a city which has been at the centre of historical events that have captured the worlds attention and a tourist destination which will keep you entertained by an array of activities and unmissable sights.

Begin at the Western side of the Unter Den Linden Strasse, Berlin's main boulevard which runs East to West and hosts the majority of Berlin accommodation and major attractions. Starting at the Western side, walk through the Brandenburg gate and view the Quadriga, the monument atop the gate which Napoleon returned with to Paris during the beginning of the 19th century.

You can walk East along the Unter Den Linden and view several landmarks and grand old buildings. Along the boulevard, you can pass the Berlin State Opera house, the Grand entrance to the Humboldt University, the historical landmark statue of King Fredrick II all the way to the eastern end where you cross the Palace bridge. Without fail you will see 368m Fersehtrum television tower which also boasts 360° views of Berlin.

When it comes to nightlife, Berlin is as diverse as it comes. For a city with a population of close to 3.5 million its no surprise that there is everything, including what is arguably the biggest techno scene in the world, to pubs and clubs which cater for every genre of music around. If your up for something different, try the KitKat club, a club notoriously famous for its uniqueness of characters and the specific dress code on Saturday nights which will involve something extravagant. Even if you don’t visit KitKat, visit Oranienburger Straße, another avenue full of nightclubs that also features some prominent street art.

11th December 2023 by Budget Traveller

While some prefer the road less travelled, I tend to find that with age, I return to the roads well travelled. Every time I go back to a place filled with good memories, even though the places may have stayed the same, I find that I have changed, so the memory is always renewed and refreshed. I am always discovering something new. The best places exist in many layers like an unfurling onion that has a habit of slowly unravelling, revealing it’s various layers over time.
