Flight deal

Qatar's early Bird sale -- return flights to Singapore from £392pp and Cape Town from £523pp

Qatar have launched an "Early Bird" sale on journeys between 15 August 2018 and 31 March 2019, although if you want to fly from London the dates are restricted to 1 September 2018 until 31 March 2019.

Let's take a look at some of the headline offers for this deal, and see if we can beat the price using Kayak.

Compare flights London > Singapore | Return | 17 Sep > 23 Sep | £453pp

Using Kayak, I found the same Qatar flights available for £392pp, which were the cheapest London > Singapore flights available.

Compare flights London > Goa | Return | 03 Sep > 12 Sep | £469pp

Using Kayak, I found the same Qatar flights for for £406pp. The cheapest comparable fare (one airline, one stop) was Oman Air at £394pp

Compare flights London > Bali | Return | 27 Sep > 08 Oct | £572pp

Using Kayak, I found the same Qatar flights for for £529pp. The cheapest comparable fare (one airline, one stop) was Malaysia Airlines at £495pp, although that is also a special promotional fare.

Compare flights London > Cape Town | Return | 03 Sep > 09 Sep | £603pp

Using Kayak, I found the same Qatar flights available for £523pp, which were the cheapest London > cape Town flights available.

Compare flights London > Melbourne | Return | 29 Oct > 12 Nov | £684pp

Using Kayak, the cheapest comparable fare (one airline, one stop) was China Southern at £554pp, Followed by Malaysia Airlines at £579pp. Even the 5* Emirates came in less than Qatar at £669pp.

Is this a good deal?

Yes, and no. Qatar are an excellent airline, and if you enjoy flying with them, then this sale could save you money. That said, these are economy promo fares that are hand luggage only. You will find cheaper alternatives on some routes (Melbourne and Bali, for instance), so I would advise using Kayak to compare prices on the route and dates you're interested in.

It's also worth noting that there's a blackout period between 13 December 2018 and 13 January 2019 inclusive, when the deal wont apply.

Important: Prices are correct at the time of publishing, however they are subject to change at any time depending on availability. Some promotional prices will be strictly limited by tour operators or airlines. Special terms and conditions may apply.

The Scoop: Singapore

Futuristic, cutting edge, hip and innovative mixed with traditional and multiculturally-infused: its an expansive, complex melting-pot of a city. Expect to see packed-out temples sitting alongside reflective sky-reaching, sci-fi-esque hotels and office blocks resembling gardens in the clouds. And then there's chic and boho shophouses serving all the latest edible and drinkable treats you can imagine, next to vast, maze-like "food malls" with tiny booths serving restaurant-worthy, shockingly...
