Our hand-picked selection of books to get you in the mood for your New York holiday
A profound and beautifully-written novel about four ambitious US college friends who move to New York to begin their lives and careers after graduating. Deeply disturbing, but with an enduring human love and kindness, this book will move you in a way that none has before. Everyone should read it.
Follows an eventful day in the life of Eric, a self-made billionaire who gets stuck in traffic in the back of his limo on a journey across New York to get a haircut. He conducts his business and his life from the confined space, his bodyguards worried that he may be a target. Complex but uniquely matter-of-fact, this book will challenge you and make you think.

2020 was supposed to be a huge year for travel but obviously my plans have been put on hold. Today, Stefan and I should’ve been visiting Disneyland in California but instead, we’re in lockdown in separate houses. It’s hard to know what to post about in this crisis but I’ve decided to talk about my Multi-Centre trip to the USA as something to look forward to. As you may know, we were supposed to be in the US for three weeks now but we had to cancel. Thankfully, we managed to get about...

Some have made it, while others are on their way. In short, it’s an exciting place to visit. However, the Big Apple’s vast number of attractions, restaurants, and bars makes planning an itinerary difficult. Plotting out activities for a week can be challenging, but what if you only have 48 hours?...
22nd August 2019 by Budget TravellerMy favourite budget places to stay in New York
One of the most common questions I get from readers is if I can recommend them a good hostel to stay in New York that is not too expensive. There are a few decent budget places to stay in New York but forget about finding a cheap room in New York. For anything half decent, good location, clean -you’re looking at around $150-$200 for a private room. One way to save money in New York is by choosing to stay in a hostel. Based on my recent trip to the Big Apple, I’ve rounded up my 3 best...
23rd May 2019 by The Wandering Quinn10 things I’d do on a return trip to NYC in my 30’s
New York City is amazing at any age and I’ve heard it only get’s better the more you visit! This Summer marks 9 years since I flew to the USA to work at a Summer Camp for 3 months and then spend a month travelling around the US. Of course New York was high on my list to visit and a group of us from my Camp all went there after a fun week in Miami together. I’ve only returned to New York one time since which was for a few hours on a layover in April 2015. I remembered why I loved it the...
