The capital city of Portugal is a year-round city break destination for British travellers. We've looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Lisbon, covering the last 12 years up to 2021, plus we've asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Lisbon weather in June.

How warm is it in Lisbon during June?

The temperature reaches around 25℃ during the daytime in June, falling away to 16℃ at night. The UV index will be high at this time of year, so protection against skin and eye damage is needed. Try to limit exposure between 10am and 4pm. Apply broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every few hours, even if it's cloudy, or more frequently after sweating or swimming, and wear UV-blocking sunglasses too, and bear in mind that bright surfaces, such as sand and water increase UV exposure.

Does it rain in Lisbon during June?

On average, there will be 5 rainy days during the month, amounting to 6.7mm in total. That's almost nothing at all, therefore rain isn't something we think you need to consider. You're not likely to see a thunderstorm during your trip.

How warm is the sea in Lisbon during June?

The water around Lisbon is around 18℃ during June. It will feel a little on the cool when first entering, but you'll warm up quickly. Most kids will have no problem with this temperature, but those who feel the cold are unlikely to want to swim. The hot air temperature will mean that you will feel comfortably warm when coming out of the water.

Terracotta tiles cascading down steep hillsides, pastel-washed buildings, grand neo-classical architecture, cafes, restaurants and bars spilling customers out onto sun-kissed sidewalks. Lisbon, one of Europe’s most famous old capitals, is renowned equally for its beauty, its culture and its laid-back ambience....

The last time I saw Lisbon

It has been almost a year since I last saw Lisbon. I arrive on a wet, miserably cold evening that is typical for January in the city. Our taxi can’t find our hostel but drops us off close enough. A short walk, in the horizontal rain , feels like an eternity, each drop of water scoring our skin like a razorblade. ...

Where to drink craft beer in Lisbon, Portugal

There isn’t much better than sitting down for a cold pint after a few days of touristing. Resting aching feet, removing the hefty backpack, looking through photos of the day, and swapping highlights becomes a holiday ritual when there’s a glass of something refreshing to go with it. The only drink I wanted to seek out in Lisbon was vinho verde, the tart cousin of white wine, however, we all know beer is my poison of choice, and the Portuguese capital has not just a great number of craft...

The best places to eat in Lisbon, Portugal

You could easily survive four solid days in Lisbon on pastéis de nata and vinho verde – the iconic custard tarts and the sharp ‘green’ wine are everywhere in the Portuguese capital, and are well worth the indulgence. They were the only items I had on my to-eat list when I arrived on a late night flight to spend a long weekend in some much needed sunshine. But Lisbon’s food scene is vibrant yet still traditional at its heart; very much flourishing and I completely underestimated it....

So, you want to do a day trip to Sintra from Lisbon

Of course you do. A day trip to Sintra from Lisbon is, after all, one of the most well known excursions from the Portuguese capital city, thanks to the colourful facades of Pena Palace, but we’ll get to that in due course. I’m not here to give you a detailed history of the ancient buildings of Sintra – you can find that anywhere online, however there are a few key tips that you should keep in mind to retain your sanity in amongst the throngs of tourists all headed in the same direction as...

A day at LX Factory, Lisbon

It was the street art that drew me to LX Factory, the regenerated 19th century industrial warehouse complex in the Alcântara neighbourhood of Lisbon. From Stokes Croft in Bristol to the CBD in Christchurch, it’s the artist communities that move into spaces others ignore, take a brush to it and transform whole areas into outdoor galleries. For LX Factory, once the murals appeared the shops, restaurants and tourists soon followed....
