Our guide to the weather in Marrakech during August
We've looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Marrakech, covering the last 12 years up to 2026, plus we've asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Marrakech weather in August.
Is it too hot to visit Marrakesh in August?
It really does depend on how well you cope with the heat. Without a doubt, you HAVE to get a place with a swimming pool and if you are considering a city break to Marrakesh in August, I’d recommend against it unless you are happy exploring in the morning and evening only and even then, I think August isn’t the time to be wandering the city of Marrakesh for your whole trip. When it’s hot, the best place to visit is a waterpark! When the city heats up, thankfully, the mountains stay cooler. The locals of Marrakesh will head into the mountains in August and so should you!

How hot is it in Marrakech during August?
August is typically the hottest month in Marrakech. Expect extreme heat during August, with temperatures hitting 38℃ during the day, falling away to 24℃ at night. The UV index will be very high at this time of year, so you'll need to protect your eyes and skin. Avoid sun exposure between 10am and 4pm where possible. If outdoors, find shade, wear sun-protective clothing, wear UV-blocking sunglasses and generously apply broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every hour or so. Don't be fooled by cloudy skies! Remember that bright surfaces, such as water and sand will increase UV exposure.
Does it rain in Marrakech during August?
The answer is no. Marrakech is typically bone dry in August. You're not likely to see a thunderstorm during your trip.
Is it windy in Marrakech during August?
You're unlikely to experience any strong winds. Expect a light breeze that picks up slightly at times in August. With moderate humidity, any breeze will have a very welcome cooling effect.
