What should I pack for a holiday in Maderia in May?

Flying Fluskey With lovely, warm weather, you can pack shorts and t-shirts. Strolling the coasts or hiking the levadas you may want some sturdy walking shoes or sandals. We took a nice trip out to go whale and dolphin spotting and it was warm enough to sunbathe in our swimwear so make sure you bring your swimming costumes! People even jumped in the sea, so a travel towel could be a good idea too. Don't skip on the sun cream. You are closer to the equator than anywhere else in Europe and the sun is stronger here. On the flipside, bring an umbrella, just in case. You can have it stashed easily in your bag if rain is predicted. Answered by Flying Fluskey

What's great about Madeira in May?

Flying Fluskey May sees the island of Madeira burst into flower. The annual flower festival is on for four weeks and it encourages the rest of the island to celebrate all things floral too. If you are around for the right weekend, you can even watch a huge flower parade where floats and children alike are bedecked in blooms. The weather is warm but not ferocious so this is the perfect time to hike in Madeira. The island is criss-crossed by ancient waterways called levadas and these are the perfect way finders for wonderful walks. Answered by Flying Fluskey
