What to do on rainy travel days

You wake up in an unfamiliar bed to the sound of rain battering the window. The soothing, relaxing sound of rain.

But wait. You quickly remember you’re on holiday and the last thing you want is rain. Bad weather can ruin all your holiday plans, especially if you’re in a typically sunny weather destination. After all, you can’t go to the beach or chill by the pool if it’s pouring with rain outside!

Hang out in your accommodation

Modern life is BUSY. Like, really busy. If you’re anything like me you’re probably busy most of the time and don’t ever really take a full day to yourself. But, if you’re travelling and the weather outside sucks then this can be the perfect solution!

Take a duvet day. Put the ‘do-not disturb’ sign on and relax in your hotel. Run a bath, order room service, take naps, watch a movie, read your book and just recharge your batteries.

Everyone is so busy being busy these days that it’s important to remember to take time just to do nothing.

Head to a spa

If you’re staying in a hotel with a spa, or are somewhere nearby a spa then why not have a pamper day. Book in for a massage, get your nails done, spend some time in the sauna and just generally relax.

Also, depending on where you’re travelling, you might just find prices for treatments in the spa are very reasonable. You can have a proper pampering session without splashing too much cash on it. Bliss!

Visit a museum

Indoor museums and art galleries are the perfect places to hide indoors away from bad weather. There are museums and art galleries all across the globe and many of them are free to enter.

While away the hours learning things about the history of the place you’re in or viewing art from talented artists. You can hide from the rain and expand your mind a little bit at the same time.

Go see a movie

Why not escape the bad weather and go see a movie in a movie theatre? Grab some snacks, get comfy and spend a couple of hours catching up with a great film.

Head to the gym

If you’re staying in a hotel with gym facilities then why not head to the gym for an hour or so? If it’s just a passing shower of rain outside then by the time you’ve worked up a sweat it might have passed over.

Plus, you can work off the extra calories you’re bound to have consumed trying out all the amazing local cusine on your travels.
