Rome is a vibrant city full of culture and history, making it an ideal destination for a summer holiday. June is a great time to visit, with temperatures usually ranging from mild to warm. We've looked at the most up-to-date weather data for Rome, covering the last 12 years up to 2024, plus we've asked our team of travel bloggers for their first-hand experiences in order to answer the most frequently asked questions about Rome weather in June.

What's the weather like in Rome in June?

Ladies What Travel xpect hot summery weather in Rome in June, but much more bearable than July or August! The average temp is around 24 degrees but it can get really high - up to 29-30 degrees! I spent my June trip to Rome in strappy maxi dresses and shades – well I did once we got all our luggage back from the guy who picked up the wrong bag at the bus stop! Answered by Ladies What Travel

What should I pack for a holiday in Rome in June?

Ladies What Travel Make sure you take comfy shoes - if you want to see everything Rome has to offer, its best to wander its streets - there's something new and amazing to see round every corner! We ended up doing that not by choice but because the metro system kept being closed down wherever we went due to a US presidential visit to the city - typical lol! Many of the streets are old and cobbled, so comfort is key - you don't want thinly soled shoes that make you feel every bump or sandals that can easily get caught on the cobbles and trip you over! Light, cool clothes, something to cover your arms and legs from the sun, and a big tub of sun cream for the times they're not covered. I also loved my sunhat! I wish I'd packed one of those mini hand-fans too. The city isn't coastal and in the summer months there's little breeze, so a fan would have been a godsend! Answered by Ladies What Travel

What's great about Rome in June?

Ladies What Travel Lovely weather means you can enjoy gorgeous pasta and pizza out in the piazza's people watching! Look for restaurants with rooftop areas - we found one that had amazing views over the coliseum. Thought it would be a tourist trap but it was surprisingly cheap and delicious! The city will be busy in June, but tourist numbers are a little lower as its still within school term times in many countries, another bonus. Finally, something that's great about this city every month is its food, and my fave restaurant in the world is in Rome. Check out Gioia Mia Pisciapiano in Rome. Yes, it literally translates to 'a slow piss is my joy'. I came across it by accident – its down a tiny side street and there were locals queuing to go in. Have the lamb – it’s the most amazing dish I’ve ever eaten! Answered by Ladies What Travel

How warm is it in Rome during June?

The temperature reaches around 28℃ during the daytime in June, falling away to 19℃ at night. The UV index will be high at this time of year, so protection against skin and eye damage is needed. Try to limit exposure between 10am and 4pm. Apply broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen every few hours, even if it's cloudy, or more frequently after sweating or swimming, and wear UV-blocking sunglasses too, and bear in mind that bright surfaces, such as sand and water increase UV exposure.

On average, there will be 3 rainy days during the month, amounting to 50.4mm in total. That's broadly comparable with the amount of rain we see in England during the summer months, and would be considered dry. There's a small chance that you'll catch a thunderstorm during your trip.
