Ooh la la! Travelscoop is going French

Grab a beret and a baguette and dig out your Daft Punk CDs, we've gone all French here at Travelscoop!

This weekend - 4th & 5th August - to celebrate our Eurostar Paris £200 voucher competition coming to an end and choosing our lucky winner, we're showcasing some très bon French travel deals on social media. And we'll also be sharing a fab free-to-enter Paris-related competition or two that we've found online and are currently featuring on our website.

As if that's not all Gallic enough, we're going to be making the trip across the Channel (well, under it) to the French capital where we'll draw our competition winner in front of one of the many iconic French landmarks (yes, it will probably be the pointy one!) So keep watching out to see if you've won.

Competition ends: 11:59pm on Saturday 4th August

We'll actually be spending all of next week in Paris, working and blogging from the French capital, so keep an eye out for our posts and updates here and on Twitter and Facebook.

What is it about Paris?

The team here all collectively agree that we love Paris - and between us we've amassed around 20 visits to the City of Love. Admittedly, we're slightly taking the Mickey, because some of those were just Disneyland Paris visits - so we guess these only half count!

The main thing we love is the general ambience of the city. It feels so...well...French! It's really easy to get to from the UK and yet it feels so different, culturally and architecturally. The transport system is exceptionally easy to navigate, and we all agree that we love the special feeling of relaxation we get when wandering it's streets and avenues. For me, the city somehow always manages to reinforce my romanticised vision of itself and add an extra sparkle that keeps me returning for more.

Paris is an expensive city - accommodation, travel, meals, drinks and sightseeing really do add up. Because we feel as though we've done many of the major tourist attractions here, this time around we're hoping to "live like Parisians".  Staying slightly out of the centre of the city, and not being like typical tourists, we'll be recommending ideas for places to go, places to eat, and things to do to get the most out of your money. And things which aren't necessarily so obvious, but still interesting and fun, bien sur.
