Flybe launches summer Cardiff to Venice route

Europe's largest independent regional airline, Flybe, will be offering the first direct flights between Cardiff and Venice for summer 2018.

Starting on Saturday 21st April, they'll be transporting passengers twice-weekly - every Tuesday and Saturday - from the Welsh capital to the hugely popular Italian city. The route will cease at the end of October.

Flybe have announced that fares will begin at £34.99 one-way. But on looking at Flybe's website I could only find one solitary date - Tuesday 12th June - at that price, and every other date was more expensive.

When I tried to add on a return, still flying out on Tuesday 12th June, the Cardiff outbound flight had automatically risen in price to £41.99. Although the return flight from Venice was only £22.92, I still found that pretty cheeky. It seems that Flybe are relying on their passengers not checking different ways of getting the best deal.

If Flybe are going to run a promotion based on a specific cheap price (£34.99), then surely there should be more options at that price than just one flight? On top of that, it seems wrong to increase the price for that date/flight for passengers who also want to pay for a return with the airline? 🤔

Rant over 😏

If you do book a flight with Flybe for the summer season, you'll benefit from a refreshed on-board Café Flybe menu. They've added Itsu satay rice noodles snack boxes, with a vegan option, as well as Joe & Seph's popcorn and a selection of regional gins.

If only I hadn't been charged that extra £7 for the outbound flight...
