Six top tips for the best holiday experience in Mykonos

Mykonos is always a fantastic destination to visit. The weather is nice most of the year, the people are very friendly, and there is an endless array of things to do on the island. Its proximity to other Greek islands and several other popular travel destinations also makes Mykonos perfect for an extended trip.

The best way to enjoy this island is in utter comfort and luxury. To elevate your holiday experience in Mykonos, here are some of the top tips you can use.

Tip 1: Travel in June

June is the perfect time to visit Mykonos. The weather is warm and crisp, perfect for a day on the beach or an adventurous scuba diving trip. You can also spend more time walking around town or visiting some of the museums on the island when the weather is not quite as hot as mid-August.

There is another reason why June is the perfect time to visit Mykonos. The island is not as crowded. Some tourists are starting to arrive, but the high season is still a month away. You can enjoy the beautiful beaches and other attractions without having to deal with excessive crowds.

Tip 2: Book a Villa in Mykonos

As mentioned earlier, the best way to enjoy Mykonos is in luxury. Instead of booking a hotel, why not have your own private pool, a fully-functional kitchen, and all the space you need by opting for villas in Mykonos instead?

Booking a Mykonos villa is just as easy as booking a hotel. You can use villa rental websites to browse through your options and then make a reservation once you see a villa you like. With some properties, you will even get extra amenities such a private beach and access to gorgeous spots near the villa.

Tip 3: Sunset on a Boat

If there’s one holiday experience that truly defines Mykonos and what the island has to offer, it is going on a boat tour. There are several boat tours to choose from, all of which are interesting and scenic. My personal favourite is the Sunset cruise, which - as the name suggests - takes you to the perfect spot to watch the sunset.

If you love sailing, you can also try one of the sailing tours available on the island. The Mykonos Catamaran Sailing Tour takes you on a fun adventure. It is a unique holiday experience that you cannot get elsewhere.

Tip 4: Explore Alternative Beaches

Don’t just stick with the popular beaches while you’re in Mykonos. Elia Beach may offer the most amenities, but it is certainly not the only gorgeous beach you can visit during your trip. You can take a drive - or a scooter ride if you like - to Kalafatis Beach for a breath-taking view.

The Old Port and the Kalo Livadi Beach are also perfect for luxury travellers. For a more private holiday experience, check out the local resorts and hidden beaches; the latter are often difficult to access, but the views are well worth the short hike you have to take to get there.

Tip 5: Guided Scuba Diving

Going scuba diving in Mykonos is a must. The underwater sceneries are beautiful and there are so many spots to visit, regardless of your skill level and diving experience. If you want to have the best diving experience, however, make sure you choose a guided scuba diving tour around the top spots.

Tip 6: Cocktails and Chill

After a long driving trip around the island, there are a lot of great restaurants and some interesting parties to attend. End the day by having drinks with friends while watching the stars and listening to the waves. It will be absolutely perfect.

Sold? Your next step is to compare Mykonos holidays.
