About Siena
Tuscany's Siena is a romantic and beautiful Medieval city, home to the famous Palio horse race and the Palazzo Pubblico, which houses the city's municipal offices and the Civic Museum. The museum contains some of the greatest Sienese paintings, including Simone Martini's Maestà and Equestrian Portrait of Guidoriccio da Fogliano, and Ambrogio Lorenzetti's Allegories of Good and Bad Government. The city is said to have been founded by Senius, son of Remus, one of the two legendary founders of Rome, and its emblem is the she-wolf who suckled Remus and Romulus. With its huge piazza del Campo, Siena is a city worth visiting even if you are in Tuscany for just a few days.
