About Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki holidays are a dream come true for culture-lovers and night owls alike. This vibrant Greek city is a hive of activity day and night, with plenty of bustling markets, ancient Roman ruins and UNESCO-listed churches to explore during the day, and a plethora of nightclubs housed in restored buildings to explore at night. Plus, there's a string of stunning beaches just a stone's throw away. Thessaloniki is known as the cultural corner of Greece, and it's easy to see why. From the Basilica of Hagia Sophia to the Church of St George and the Archaeological Museum, there's plenty of Byzantine art and history to uncover. There's also a wealth of ancient monuments, such as the 15th century White Tower, which was once a fortress and prison, and the Roman Forum, with its ruins of ancient baths and theatre. Head a little further afield and you'll find the resort area of Halkidiki, with its sheltered bays and crystal-clear waters, or Agia Triada, just half an hour south of the city, with its huge sweep of sand and shingle, bordered by tavernas, bars and shops.
